BRIDGEPORT, CT — One police officer has been fired and another was deducted 30 paid holidays when the police commission found they used in excessive force in a 2017 incident, The Connecticut Post reported. The commission voted 5-2 to terminate Officer Michael Stanitis. A union representative said that Stanitis was wrongfully terminated and that the union will file a grievance. Sgt. Paul Scillia was deducted 30 paid holidays, according to The Connecticut Post. Multiple lawsuits have been filed in the case connected to a 2017 backyard party on Colorado Avenue. In April, the city agreed to pay a victim $340,000.
