RE: Housing strike anyone?

News

Bellingham WA

Description

It seems to me that rental property is the property of those who build or purchase it. There have recently been "emergency" measures on account of Covid. These measures allowed SOME people to live rent-free for a time if they chose to abuse their landlord. The landlords that did not lose their property were reimbursed for their losses. (We hope). Where does the authority to strike against landlords come in? There are many choices of where to live. In a TEE-PEE as some of our ancestors did, A tarp house on the street, etc. Many people live in RVs. It would be a happy day if the city of Bellingham could embrace the fact that many people don't want to live in an expensive apartment. If the city could see fit to convert the Lake Padden golf course into a huge RV park and tenting area, many local housing problems would be solved. The RV park could be nearly self-sufficient. Thanks, Bill
