Stallworth Praises Connecticut CARES Small Business Grant Program

Press release from the Connecticut General Assembly: November 9, 2020 State Representative Charlie Stallworth (D-Bridgeport, 146th district), is applauding the Connecticut CARES Small Business Grant Program which will provide businesses and nonprofits in the state that have less than 20 employees or less than $1.5 million in revenue with a one-time grant of $5,000. The funding, which can be used for payroll, rent, utilities, inventory, purchase of machinery or equipment and more, will come from Connecticut's Coronavirus Relief Fund. At least half of the funding will go to small businesses and nonprofits in towns and cities considered distressed municipalities. "This program will bring some relief to many small businesses and nonprofits who could use it at this time," Rep. Stallworth said. "I'm obviously in full support of helping those businesses and nonprofits who serve our community well." The Department of Economic of Community Development will begin accepting applications beginning Monday, November 9, 2020. Information such as eligibility requirements, upcoming webinars, and more about the program will be published on the state's business portal at business.ct.gov.
