Description

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — An around-the-clock detour of Eiland Boulevard is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, weather permitting. Eiland Boulevard will be closed at the State Road 54 intersection. Drivers will be directed by detour signs along SR 54, Eiland Boulevard and U.S. 301. The detour is expected to be in place between April 9 and the night of April 13. This detour is necessary for the contractor to construct the northern side of the intersection of SR 54 and Eiland Boulevard in association with the SR 54 widening project. Immediately after this detour is completed, another detour will begin on the south side of the intersection, closing the Morris Bridge Road access at SR 54 (these details will be released soon). The 4.5-mile length of SR 54 from Wesley Chapel to Zephyrhills is being widened from Curley road to east of Morris Bridge Road/Eiland Boulevard intersection. This $42.5 million project is widening the existing two-lane road to a four-lane highway with medians. A sidewalk will be built on the north side of the road and a 10-foot-wide multi-use trail will be built on the south side. The sidewalk and trail will run the entire length of the project, from east of Curley Road to east of the Morris Bridge Road / Eiland Boulevard intersection. It is expected to be completed in late 2023. Click here.
