Press release from Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce: 04 April 2022 An Irving family ventured onto an ice-covered pond in February to take some photographs. But when the ice broke at the north Irving park, both parents fell into the frigid waters. Irving police officers Travis Allen and Brendan Fowler, who responded to the scene, helped rescue the parents, according to a release from the Irving Police Department. The officers have received the U.S. Attorney General's distinguished service award for community policing for their deed from Attorney General Merrick Garland. When Fowler arrived at the pond, he threw a rope with a flotation device to the parents and told them to wrap it around themselves. Allen arrived soon after, and the two began making a plan.
