From special events, presentations on campus, workshops and more – you'll find it here, just a click away. Here's a look at some of highlighted events. Asian American Experience in Houston and UHD: A Gator Achievers Discussion with Bryan Nguyen UHD alumnus Bryan Nguyen will speak about his experience in Houston and at UHD as part of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion's Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month observances. The virtual event will be held from Noon – 1 p.m., Friday April 8 and participants can join the event via Zoom. Nguyen will offer a unique opportunity for members of our campus community to gain perspective on such discrimination and violence, as well as appreciation for the struggles faced by those of Asian heritage in the greater Houston region, and particularly of those who were resettled to the Gulf Coast as refugees following the Vietnam War. Do You Have a Great Elevator Pitch? As part of UHD's Arts and Communication Festival, we want to see students who can sum up who they are and why their awesome during an Elevator Pitch Contest from Noon – 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 in the N1099 Event Room. Participants will receive feedback on their pitches from a panel of experts. The students who have the top three pitches will be awarded prizes. ($50 – first place, $30 – second place, $20 third place) To register or for more information, contact Burton French at [email protected]. Study Skills 101 Workshop The Gator Success Center is hosting a virtual Study Skills 101 Workshop from 3 – 4 p.m. on Tuesday April 12. Make plans to attend this event and receive some helpful tips that will build good study habits that will result in success in academic courses. Arts and Communication Studies Internship Fair An Arts and Communications Internship Fair from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., Wednesday April 13 in the Milam and Travis Conference Rooms in the third floor Welcome Center. At the event, students will be able to network with a wide range of area non-profit and business organizations. No registration is required, just stop by make connections and secure an internship that could lead to a future career. Want to see more events?
