BRIDGEPORT, CT — A man has been arrested for killing one person and wounding another in a barber shop shooting, according to police. Taveres Jefferson, 43, of Lee Avenue in Bridgeport, was charged with murder, first-degree criminal attempt at murder, and several other assault and gun-related charges. He was held on $1 million bond. On Oct. 2, Jamain Allen was shot and killed at the Quick Stop barber shop at 375 Pequonnock St. A second employee of the barber shop was also shot and survived. Detectives quickly developed a suspect believed to be responsible for the death of Allen and the shooting of the second victim and later obtained a warrant for Jefferson's arrest, according to a police statement. "The arrest of Jefferson was a collaborative effort, involving several investigators from the Bridgeport Police Department and Connecticut State Police, with the assistance of the State's Attorney's Office," the statement reads. "As a result, Detective Cintron was able to secure a warrant for the arrest of Jefferson, and an individual who was a threat to public safety was taken off the street. All involved should be recognized for their efforts."
