Press release from City of Fort Worth:
April 08, 2022
Blue Zones Project's latest Live Well podcast features Me'Shellia "MeMe" Allums-Davis from Diamond Hill Community Center, who shares her love for the center's tight-knit clients and describes how community centers reach a broad audience with a variety of programs.
Allums-Davis, a recreation programmer, was asked what she would accomplish if she was handed a magic wand. Her immediate response was to finish construction on the new Diamond Hill Community Center.
"I would want it done today," she said. "That new community center will bring Diamond Hill back out. People are going to want to come to the classes when they see the new center. That's what I would change."
As a community center aide, what gives Allums-Davis hope? "Me knowing that I'm doing my purpose. I'm in the community with the kids, doing what I know feels right to me. This is my purpose; I'm supposed to be here."
