Press release from the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce:
April 8, 2022
West Des Moines Parks and Recreation is set to open both Holiday Park Aquatic Center and Valley View Aquatic Center for the 2022 season. We are close to hiring all the employees it takes to successfully operate both facilities but are still looking to hire more lifeguards and swim instructors. If you or someone you know would be interested, please share this information with them. You can apply online at www.wdm.iowa.gov/jobs. Applicants must be 15 or older to apply.
Being a lifeguard is more than just a summer job. Not only will you have lots of fun and play a valuable role in your community but you will gain valuable skills that will help you become a well-rounded individual.
Why work for WDM?
Why become a Lifeguard? If you are needing to become lifeguard certified we have a lifeguard training class offered this spring. We will have other classes available once we are able to fill the pools.
This class will teach participants all the skills and knowledge required for effective lifeguarding. Through this course participants will become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, as well as CPR/AED and First Aid. Price: $175 (Reimbursed if you work for the City of WDM this Summer). Participants must be 15 years old on the last day of class.
Register at the link below: We hope you'll consider working at the WDM Aquatic Centers this summer and make a DIFFERENCE in our COMMUNITY!
If you have any questions about becoming a lifeguard, please contact Trevor Hoth, Recreation Coordinator at [email protected] or 222-4329.
