JOLIET, IL — A 56-year-old Joliet man who tried shooting his son Friday night at the Larkin Village Apartments is now in the Will County Jail, Joliet police announced on Saturday. Dariuf Jordan was arrested on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault. Friday's shooting around 8:30 p.m. drew at least 14 Joliet police cars to the scene in the 1000 block of Lois Place. " Officers determined that Jordan had fired a handgun in the direction of his adult son during an argument," police spokesman Dwayne English announced in Saturday's press release. Jordan and his son were involved in an argument and the son left and when the victim returned to the apartment to collect an item before leaving, Jordan refused to open the door and threatened to kill the victim, English indicated. Jordan then fired one round toward the closed apartment door, striking the door frame, police revealed. The victim was unharmed, and he exited the building and called 911. With the assistance of Joliet Police Department Crisis Negotiators, Jordan agreed to exit theapartment and was taken into custody without incident. A loaded handgun was recoveredfrom the apartment by Joliet police, English announced. Jordan lives in the Larkin Village Apartments on Lois Place, his jail logs show.
