HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — After testing positive for the coronavirus in mid-August, Havre de Grace Mayor William Martin said he has been symptom-free for nearly one week, and his doctor has cleared him to return to society. While his symptoms were mild, Martin said a senior member of his staff who also tested positive for the virus had a different experience. The staffer "has gone the distance with this virus but is now on the path to recovery," Martin said in a statement Sunday. "I kindly ask that we keep this individual in our thoughts and prayers." Martin thanked people for their support of him during his time isolated in recovery from the virus. "I can say clearly and without any question, that the care and concern of our community is the best medicine for a speedy recovery," Martin said. "The doctor has given me the green light to rejoin society and return to doing what I enjoy most, serving the City of Havre de Grace....Thank you, Havre de Grace, for everything. I'll see you around town. #HdGStrong" Related: Havre de Grace Mayor Tests Positive For CoronavirusStatement From Mayor Regarding Positive COVID-19 Test, Havre de Grace
