HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A fatal fire broke out Friday morning in Harford County, according to authorities. After firefighters spent nearly an hour bringing the blaze under control, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported a woman was found dead inside a home on Old Robinhood Road. Based on 911 calls, investigators said they believed a person may have been inside the home in the 2400 block of Old Robinhood Road when the fire broke out. The first call came in at 5:19 a.m. from neighbors who discovered the fire, officials reported. About 50 firefighters battled the two-alarm blaze, including crews from the Aberdeen Fire Department, Susquehanna Hose Company and other companies, according to authorities. Investigators said they did not find evidence of smoke alarms in the home. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation, according to the fire marshal, which said the local authorities are also involved, which is "standard operating procedure when a fatal fire occurs." The woman's body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore to determine the cause of death, according to officials, who said she was not being publicly identified.
