​Point Pleasant Beach High Student Tests Positive For COVID-19

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – A student at Point Pleasant Beach High School has recently tested positive for COVID-19, the district announced this week. The district says it's coordinating closely with public health officials and will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local health department guidance. Contact tracing will also take place, identifying and notifying close contacts of the student connected to his or her most recent day of attendance, which was Oct. 9, officials said. Deep cleansing and disinfecting all school spaces is ongoing. District nurses are also monitoring any reports of illness among staff or students, officials said. "We understand the level of concern regarding COVID-19," Superintendent William T. Smith said. "We encourage parents and students to continue following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention promoted safeguards." They include: Staying home when you are sickWashing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds Covering coughs and sneezes and properly disposing tissues Limiting close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils.Practicing social distancing Wearing a face coveringContinuing to monitor your health for symptoms.
