Point Pleasant Beach Expands In-Person Instruction At Schools

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Point Pleasant Beach has expanded in-person instruction at both of its district's schools. Superintendent Will Smith said "everything is subject to change," but the first expansion happened on Monday at Antrim Elementary School. Smith also said he is hoping to reopen for five days a week across the district after the new year. Officials said the first expansion involved having special education students in grades 5 through returning to in-person instruction for four full days beginning on Monday. Wednesday will remain all virtual. During the half-way point of the second marking period, the rest of the school will be able to return for four days, with Wednesday remaining virtual, officials said. At Point Pleasant Beach High School, officials said they want special education students to return to in-person instruction on Wednesdays beginning on Nov. 16th. This will be done so they can have five days of instruction, officials said. Wednesdays will remain as half days. "Any plan changes we make we're trying to get to the community with as much advance notice as possible so people can plan," Smith said.
