POINT PLEASANT BEACH – A student at Point Pleasant Beach has recently tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent William Smith announced on Wednesday.
The district is coordinating closely with public officials and will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local health department guidance, Smith said.
A key component of this coordination includes contact tracing, which identifies and notifies "close contacts" of the student from or near the his or her most recent day in attendance, which was Nov. 10th.
Contact tracing for this case has been completed and the impact to classrooms and instruction appears to be minimal, Smith said.
The district is taking precautions such as cleaning frequently used surfaces and disinfecting.
"Our district nurses are also monitoring any reports of illness among staff or students," Smith said.
Smith reminded people that they should:
Stay home when you're sickWash hands oftenCover coughs and sneezesLimit close contact with people who are sickWear face coverings
