Point Boro, Point Beach Schools Go Remote Due To Nor'easter

POINT PLEASANT – Point Pleasant Boro and Point Pleasant Beach schools have decided to switch to all-remote on Thursday. Due to inclement weather and the state of emergency declared by Gov. Murphy, the Point Pleasant Boro School District will have a remote learning day for all students on Thursday. Additionally, district employees should plan to work remotely. Parents will receive directions from their child's teacher. Please note that your child will follow a synchronous school day similar to the schedule they currently have. Classroom teachers will provide students with more specific instructions regarding afternoon work and office hours. Point Pleasant Beach noted that, although the weather forecast has been changing by the hour, "it has been consistent in predicting very high winds and coastal flooding." The district will follow a half-day remote learning schedule for staff and students on Thursday. All students will be asked to attend school as remote learners beginning at the regular start of their school day. High school students will follow a half-day A-day schedule. Elementary students will follow their Wednesday remote-learning schedule. "We are holding this remote learning day to maintain the continuity of instruction for students while keeping commuting staff members and students safely within their homes for the duration of the school day," the district said. "As per the governor's orders during this pandemic, this remote-learning day will register as a day of school and should be treated as such."
