POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Point Pleasant Beach High school will switch to all-remote for several days because of recent coronavirus cases.
The school will transition to remote learning for three days leading into the winter break, or Monday through Wednesday.
Superintendent William Smith said the two most recent coronavirus cases at the high school were the first for which the district was unable to determine an origin.
"While we have no reason to believe the two cases initiated inside the school building or have spread within the building, given the virus' high activity in and around our community, our response must be appropriately precautionary," he said.
Smith said this "significant step" to temporarily pause in-person instruction is both reactive and proactive.
"We neither made the decision easily, nor take its impact on students and their families lightly," he said
