We offer midday dog walking, vacation pet sitting, overnight care, boarding, and pet transport. We're Hiring! Tails of the City Pet Care is looking for pet sitters, midday dog walkers, and pet boarders (taking care of dogs in your home) in Washington, DC who have flexibility in their schedule to take on midday dog walking, pet sitting, and pet boarding assignments. Hired applicants will complete an extensive training program. Prospective applicants must: Be a zoologist at heart and have an undying love for animals Be comfortable with groups of dogs and be skilled in animal behavior Enjoy the idea of a flexible schedule Can work independently and without supervision Be willing to work outdoors and tolerate adverse weather conditions. You will be expected to walk, run or bike with dogs in the rain, sleet, hail, and snow! Be able to provide references, employment history, and pass a criminal background check Possess honesty, reliability, strong communication skills, common sense, and good judgment Demonstrate a keen ability to handle multiple tasks and details Be adaptable - things happen. We need people who won't unravel when things aren't seamless. Be able to communicate in English at the native speaker level in oral and written form Be in good physical health and be able to walk, run or bike with dogs for at least an hour Own a reliable, insured, registered, and inspected car or bike and have a backup, alternative modes of transportation Own a smartphone or equivalent mobile device that can access the Internet while in the field and have a backup, alternative mobile devices Able to check email communication daily and be responsive to both email and text communication MIDDAY DOG WALKING We have routes available in all parts of DC and surrounding areas in VA & MD. Ideal candidates should be available M - F from 11 am - 3 pm, can handle large breed dogs, and are knowledgeable about dog behavior and pet care. Candidates must have a registered, reliable vehicle, moped, or be a strong bike rider (no candidates on foot or rely on public transportation or rideshare services will be considered), a smartphone, and Internet access. 6-month commitment is preferred. This is a popular service and we need more pet lovers who are looking to earn extra income welcoming pet guests into their homes when their pet owners are out of town. _____________________________________________________________________ COMPENSATION: Contract work by assignment but generally $10 - $65+ per pet job, depending on the nature of the assignment ranging from a 15-min potty break to overnight pet sitting in pet owners' homes. 100% of tips go to the dog walker or pet sitter. It is expected that all Pet Care Providers represent the company professionally and treat all pets under our care with love and compassion. Pet Care Providers will abide by the company’s high work standards and performance expectations. We pride ourselves on being animal lovers who are responsible, arrive on time, and are excellent communicators who pay attention to details. Pet Care Providers are responsible for using their smartphones to check in and out of each assignment through our online-based pet sitter software and provide immediate updates with pictures to clients and management after each visit via e-mail through the pet sitter software.
