MiddleGround: a creative gatheringCalling all creatives, makers, entrepreneurs, and actionists in Gainesville to join us for an afterwork experience, as we ‘breathe together’ for good food, creative presentations, and an opportunity to connect and share. Widen your experiences, enrich your practices, and re-examine ways of coexisting in a stimulating creative environment. This is an invitation to collective place making. Children are welcomed to attend! What is it?Middle Ground is an ‘/after\work’ space within the triangular blend of community, creativity, and culture—a space to maximize and reemphasize the spirit of gathering, express artistry, and present other creative ideas. It is a space to encounter the guiding ethos of the African sensorium and aesthetics—that state of mind which embodies humanistic values of sharing, harmony, free spirit, openness, audacity, inspiration, and respect among others. It is above all a shout, for us all to be involved in the experimentation of a new democracy, where we are collectively involved in a definition of what it means to be fully in the here and now, with all its complexities. The concrete space we hope to create with MiddleGround can be imagined as a kitchen, where we are all invited to cook, through passion and suppress hungers, sharing a collective space as companions and stake holders who have the agency to mediate and move freely between differences.
