A celebration of the ways we mother, and nurture ourselves, children, families and community. Join us for a night of community building and honoring the ways we mother and center liberation in our parenting, ways of being and in community. Honoring the beautiful and intentional anthology Revolutionary Mothering we will build together, and reflect on the ways we celebrate our mothering journeys. Come share collective space with other mamas and engage in thought provoking conversation as we work to uplift, build up and support one another along this beautiful journey. Our panelist are: Abyssinia Washington, Licensed Professional Counselor Danielle Torain, Director of Open Society Institute - Baltimore Kanika Harris, Director of Maternal and Infant Health, Black Women's Health Imperative Khalilah Harris, Managing Director, K12 Education Policy, Center for American Progress Nikki Osei-Barret, Owner of Osei PR and Co-Founder of District Motherheud Sharayna Christmas, Muse 360 & Baltimore Creative Alliance This event is part of the official Black Maternal Health Week events, which was founded by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance. This year marks the fifth year anniversary of the Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) campaign. Founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, BMHW is a week of awareness, activism, and community building intended to: Deepen the national conversation about Black maternal health in the US;Amplify community-driven policy, research, and care solutions;Center the voices of Black Mamas, women, families, and stakeholders;Provide a national platform for Black-led entities and efforts on maternal health, birth and reproductive justice; andEnhance community organizing on Black maternal health.The campaign and activities for Black Maternal Health Week serve to amplify the voices of Black Mamas and center the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements. Activities during BMHW are rooted in human rights, reproductive justice, and birth justice frameworks.
