This class will prepare birth doulas and birth partners to understand and practice acupressure techniques for labor support.
Acupressure can help with a variety of challenges during labor including but not limited to fatigue, pain and anxiety. In a 2011 Cochran Review authors concluded acupressure may have a role in reducing pain, increasing satisfaction with pain management and reduce the use of pharmacological management.
Applying the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) you will learn noninvasive techniques and key acupuncture points for labor to help with relaxation, pain relief, and to ease stress. We will also be practicing mindfulness meditation, presence and energy work.
