Poetry In New York hosted by Galinsky featuring Sasha Stiles, Edwin Torres, & Galinsky each performing live at Book Club Bar. New York's hottest curated poetry session continues on April 21st at 8pm, with powerhouse artists Sasha Stiles, Edwin Torres, and host Galinsky. First poet hits at 8:15pm so get here early! Edwin Torres is a native East Village citizen from the borders of Nuyo-Other, born on the stage of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, winning no slams before their time! He has brought his bodylingo poetics from Dixon Place to St. Marks Poetry Project, appeared in numerous anthologies, and has been a leaky fixture on the downtown poetry scene. He is the author of 13 collections of poetry, including Ameriscopia, Yes Thing No Thing...and most recently from Roof Books, Quanundrum: I will be your many angled thing. IG @brainlingo_ Sasha Stiles is a first-generation Kalmyk-American poet, artist and AI researcher whose cross-media practice probes what it means to be human in a nearly post-human era. Her work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. Stiles is a poetry mentor to the humanoid android BINA48, as well as a co-founder of crypto literary collective theVERSEverse.com and has spoken at: SXSW, Miami Art Week and her first book, Technelegy, has been hailed as “an instant techno-classic.” IG @sashastiles www.sashastiles.com Galinsky is a coach, director, producer, writer, prison activist and New York City town crier. He is founder of GalinskyCoaching.com, is head speaker coach at TEDxTeen, and works with teenagers in Rikers Island Jail and jails and prisons throughout NY State through Literacy for Incarcerated Teens and the Kite Zine. His one-person play "The Bench, A Homeless Love Story" played ten sold out weeks at Off Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre and was extended for another thirty weeks at East Village Playhouse and in Hollywood at the Hudson Guild Theater. Galinsky most recently wrote and directed “Based On a True Story”, six short plays that included notable actors: Laura San Giacomo, Roger Guenveur Smith, Gary Cole, and Shola Adewusi. He runs a live poetry night, “Poetry in New York” the third Thursday of each month,at Book Club Bar in Alphabet City NY.
