An unBEElievable event for honey lovers across the valley. Honey varietal tastings, presentations, scotch, cocktails, grazing and more! Have you always wanted to learn more about how honey is made? Come and experience how truly magnificent this natural sweetener is, how it’s made and its diversity and usage in food and in drinks. Kim Haasarud, national honey ambassador, is heading up a honey event in partnership with Slow Food Phoenix at her recently opened bar Garden Bar PHX in downtown Phoenix. The event will feature the following: Bridle Path Beeyard Joc from local apiary Bridle Path Beeyard will be tasting his honey from his local apiary in addition to his honeycomb as a garnish in one of our cocktails. (Participants may also purchase his honeys on-site.) Bee to Bottle Presentation Kim Haasarud, national honey ambassador, will be leading small groups of honey tastings that include how honey is made, the roles bees play in the hive, its importance in agriculture, followed by a honey varietal tasting that demonstrates the diversity in flavor in the hundreds of varietals found across the US. Aberfeldy Scotch Tasting Scotch is one of THE best spirits to pair with honey. The Aberfeldy brand ambassador will be on-site to sample Aberfeldy scotch that pairs with the many honeys that will be tasted. The Cocktails & Drinks There will be a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic offerings including: • Queen Bee (one of Garden Bar’s Signature Cocktails) – made with Bombay Sapphire, Heirloom Genepy, pineapple, lemon, local honey, egg white. Garnished with an edible butterfly, bee pollen and fresh honeycomb. • Honey Herb Smash – made with Aberfeldy 12 year scotch, muddled lemons, herbs and local honey. Shaken and served in a take-home souvenir honeybear glass. • Frozen Honey Lemonades – non-alcoholic lemonade made with local honey, fresh lemon. Grazing Boards Lite bites on Grazing Boards featuring various cured meats and cheese, dried fruits, nuts and sweets. Some items will include local purveyors. Gift Bags Gift Bags will be given out to all ticket-holders, featuring some other honey goodies, provided by the National Honey Board. To-Go Cocktail Kit A $50 Add On – Honey Herb Smash Cocktail Kit This kit allows you to make your own Honey Herb Smash Cocktail at home. Includes: Aberfeldy 12 year old scotch, Garden Bar’s honey lemon mix, garnish, etc. Each kit makes 4-5 drinks. MUST BE 21+ TO ATTEND
