MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee officials have charged a 31-year-old woman with a hit-and-run that caused the death of a bicyclist in the city's south side, and now police said the accused driver is at large.
Amber Corrao, 31, was charged with a hit-and-run involving a death on Monday. Now a warrant is out for her arrest.
Police responded to a call for a hit-and-run at S. 20th Street and W. Grant Street on March 25 and found a man who was struck while riding his bicycle, the Milwaukee Police Department said in a statement. Officers tried to save the man's life with CPR, but he died at the scene.
Surveillance video showed a blue Jeep Liberty hit the man and sped away around 11:28 a.m., police said.
Police found the Jeep in Marinette County five days after the hit-and-run, according to a criminal complaint. Corrao told police her boyfriend was driving the SUV, but surveillance footage showed a lone driver with a height and face shape that matched hers.
