Registered Apprenticeship is a smart way to build, recruit and retain a skilled workforce. During this session, employers will gain insight into the creation of a USDOL Registered Apprenticeship Program, as well as the resources and funding available to support apprenticeship in our community. Presenters: USDOL Apprenticeship and Training Representative, Marybeth Koski has 22 years of experience with Registered Apprenticeship Programs for individual employers, joint employer and labor groups. Marybeth will discuss why and how Registered Apprenticeship works and strengthens your workforce. Resources: Apprentice Coordinator, Cameron Albring at Oakland Community College is available to help you design and implement a solid plan for related technical instruction (RTI)/classes, a key component of successful registered apprenticeships. OCC engages registered apprentices in the classroom and lab with many delivery options. *OCC is also offering a financial stipend for employers establishing an approved, Registered Apprenticeship in manufacturing related occupations. Apprenticeship Success Coordinator, Clean Slate Expungement Navigator and Retention Services Coordinator, Elizabeth Rivard-Weston at Oakland County Workforce Development/Oakland County Michigan Works! works with all local business and provides support and services; including applicable funding for Registered Apprenticeships that lead to a qualified workforce through Registered Apprenticeship. Regional Apprenticeship Director, Janene Erne at WIN (Workforce Intelligence Network) provides services at no cost, and is an approved organization through that State of Michigan and US DOL Office of Apprenticeship to help create, implement and manage an employers approved, Registered Apprenticeship programs as well as make the process easier.
