NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A break from school doesn't need to be a break from friends and enrichment for New Rochelle schoolchildren. The main branch of the New Rochelle Public Library will be offering a variety of free programs for children next week, from April 11 to April 15, during the school holiday break. On Monday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., children ages 3-8 will be able to sing and dance with popular children's entertainer Dawny Dew and her puppet friends. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., children ages 3-8 will also be able to enjoy the renowned Paper Bag Players in the Ossie Davis Theater performing Sing a Song, Dance a Dance, a revue of theatrical and imaginative sketches aimed to have audience members standing up and laughing hard. On Tuesday, April 12, between 11 a.m. - noon, children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers will be able to decorate flower pots and plant seeds in the Spring Garden Planting Craft program. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., children ages 7 to 12 will be able to create Earth Day-inspired pop-up art creations of a 3D underwater scene or a buzzing bee in a garden. On Wednesday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., children ages 2 to 5 will be able to attend Spring Into Stories for books, songs and movement. For children ages 3 to 10, Magician Joshy K. will show up at 2 p.m. for magical transformations, teleportations, audience participation, Rubik's cubes and an 8-foot tall appearance. On Thursday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m., children 5 and up can bring their families to watch Clifford the Big Red Dog movie. From 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., author Anne Mottola will share how she created her series, Wonders in the Garden. Children ages 4 to 10 and their parents or guardians can hear the books read and join Mottola for some garden activities. On Friday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m., children 5 and up and their families can watch the movie Encanto. All programs are free of charge.
