Press release from the El Paso County Government: April 7, 2022 April 7, 2022 –Fortman Avenue east of Fountain Mesa Road will be closed to traffic starting on Tuesday, April 12, as work shifts to the east side of the road for traffic management and safety improvements at the intersection of Fountain Mesa Road and Caballero/Fortman Avenue. Work is expected to last 5-6 weeks, weather permitting. The appropriate signage and detours will be in place. The current road closure of Caballero Avenue west of Fountain Mesa Rd will be completed and opened before the closure of Fortman on April 12. Drivers and Motorists are reminded to: Take alternate routes to avoid delaysReduce speeds and use caution when traveling through the work zoneWatch for workers, equipment, signs, and barricadesPlan for added travel time for those using detours El Paso County wishes to thank drivers in advance for their cooperation.
