Traffic Advisory: Street Maintenance Begins April 7 On West 5th Street

Press release from the City of Austin: April 7, 2022 Construction of mill and overlay treatment expected to wrap by April 9. Starting Thursday, April 7, Austin Public Works crews will begin a mill and overlay treatment on West 5th Street between West Lynn Street and Baylor Street. This preventative maintenance treatment consists of installing an interlayer seal and placing new asphalt. New pavement markings will follow the asphalt placement. The street will remain accessible at all times, with partial lane closures in effect during construction. Work hours will be 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Barring weather delays or other unforeseen circumstances, construction is expected to be completed by Saturday, April 9. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians traveling along W. 5th Street should be mindful of all work zone traffic signs, cones and flaggers.
