Here are the top three stories today in New Orleans: Longtime State Senator, Karen Carter Peterson, has resigned from her position with the Louisiana State Legislature effective immediately. After over 20 years in the senate, Peterson has decided to step down to focus on her mental health. (WDSU New Orleans) A man was found who had been shot to death on Friday morning in Algiers. NOPD arrived on the scene to find the 63-year-old victim. NOPD is currently investigating. (WDSU New Orleans) The New Orleans City Council has frozen the budgets of two city departments as it expresses frustration with delays in road projects, maintenance, and short-term rentals. The Department of Public Works and the Department of Safety and Permits won't be able to hire new employees until further notice.
