Officials with the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported 331 new COVID-19 infections Thursday and five additional deaths.
That's the highest number of new cases in the past week, and an increase of 73 cases over the day before.
The new data increased the county's two-year pandemic totals to 752,407 cases and 5,210 deaths.
The number of COVID-positive patients admitted to local hospitals stood at 122, according to the latest state data, with 28 requiring intensive care. Medical centers had 232 available ICU beds.
To compare, nearby Riverside and Orange counties had 46 and 78 COVID patients in local hospitals. Los Angeles County leads the state with 273 patients battling COVID in hospitals.
