Bethel Class In Quarantine Following Positive Coronavirus Test

BETHEL — One person at Johnson Elementary School has tested positive for the coronavirus. Some staff members and a class have been asked to quarantine, but the rest of the school remains open following a deep cleaning over the weekend, upon the recommendation of the Bethel Health Department. "We will also continue to implement all of the mitigation strategies in our reopening plan," Schools Superintendent Christine Carver wrote in a letter to families in the community. "The health and safety of all members of our school community remains our priority. We want to remind families to continue to conduct daily health screenings for symptoms before sending students to school or any extracurricular programs." Exposure to the positive case was limited to one class, Carver said. Public schools in Bethel are open following the hybrid attendance model, in which half the students attend class in-building while the other half learns remotely. Cohorts switch places four days out of the week, and all students employ distance learning on Wednesdays.
