Here are the top five stories in Sacramento today: A Sacramento dancer is hoping he has all the right moves to make the Team USA break dancing team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where the sport will make its debut in the competition. His name is Morris Isby and he has been breaking since his sophomore year of high school. He holds 132 titles and plans to add an Olympic gold medal. At 38, Morris is one of the newest Olympic sport's oldest competitors. He says age is nothing but a number. To kick off Arts, Culture and Creativity Month, Morris threw down at McClatchy Park for an event where even the mayor shared his high hopes that Morris will punch his ticket to Paris. (CBS Sacramento via MSN) Students at a Sacramento high school got to experience voting firsthand on Thursday with the help of California's chief of elections. California Secretary of State Shirley Weber was in attendance at a mock election at Grant High School where she showed students how the process goes. "We are trying to get them to work in the polls because once you actually get engaged with elections, it's a lifelong thing," Weber said. "We want them to develop lifelong habits of voting." (KCRA3)The Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance (DHA) has launched a Food Insecurity Pilot Program – aimed at lessening the impact the pandemic has had on individuals struggling to feed themselves and their families. The pilot program includes increased funding to the food bank, providing food delivery services and working with local non-profit partners to ensure the services are reaching those that need them most. DHA is contracting with Family Meals Sacramento (FMS) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for an initial pilot program of one-year to ensure individuals and families are receiving the food services. (Press Release Desk) From the Sacramento Police: Detectives continue to work through the evidence collected from Sunday's shooting. The shell casings located on scene have been submitted to a national database for evidentiary review. We appreciate the nearly 200 videos and/or pictures that have been submitted. We now know that there were many individuals on scene during the time of this shooting. We urge those who were to please contact our Investigations Division at 916-808-0650. (Instagram)A former state worker from Sacramento was sentenced to two years in prison for her role in a scheme to defraud the Office of AIDS out of millions of dollars, prosecutors announced Thursday. Christine M. Iwamoto, 48 was also ordered to pay $481,200 in restitution for wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering in relation to a scheme to divert funds from the California Department of Public Health, where she had been working until 2018, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office. Iwamoto reportedly obtained $450,000 in payments from fraudulent invoices and gave cash and blank checks worth thousands of dollars to another coworker involved in the scheme.
