Kinder Chocolate Products Recalled For Salmonella Concerns

PROVIDENCE, RI — Certain Kinder chocolate products were recalled over concerns of salmonella contamination, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced Friday. The products were sold in BJ's Wholesale Club stores and Big Y Supermarkets. The recall included Kinder Happy Moments Chocolate Assortment and Kinder Mix Chocolate Treats baskets. Both could be contaminated with Salmonella Typhimurium, RIDOH said. Detailed product information is listed below. A healthy person with a Salmonella infection will often experience a fever, sometimes bloody diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and abdominal pain. If the organism gets into the bloodstream, it can cause rare, more serious illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis, the department said. The recalled candy was made in a facility where Salmonella typhimurium was found. Anyone with the products is asked not to eat them.
