Ames Parks and Recreation and JAX Outdoor Gear are hosting a Spring Fishing Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Ada Hayden Lake, 5205 Grand Ave. The day will include fishing at the lake for all ages, fly fishing classes (casting from 9 a.m. to noon; fishing from noon to 3 p.m.), fish cleaning, cornhole games, door prizes, and a food truck (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
"Spring Fishing Day is a family-friendly event that highlights one of the great natural resources in our community, Ada Hayden Heritage Park," said Parks and Recreation Director Keith Abraham. "We hope to see a lot of people out to enjoy what this park has to offer."
Anglers ages 16 and older must have a valid fishing license and follow all State of Iowa fishing regulations.
The Parks and Recreation Department manages 38 parks and offers approximately 180 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs. Indoor programs are provided year-round at the Community Center and Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
