WATCH: Yeshivat Noam Brings Graduation To Their Paramus Students

PARAMUS, NJ — Eighth grade students at Yeshivat Noam, a Jewish day school in Paramus, didn't get to celebrate their graduation in traditional fashion because of the coronavirus this year, so the school brought graduation to them. In a video posted to the school's YouTube channel, students are greeted by faculty, staff and even a parade quality float as they walk out their front door dressed in cap and gown. Staffers dance on the float as it moves down neighborhood streets, and speeches are delivered to an audience of the student and their family. Rabbi Chaim Hagler, as seen in the video, addresses the situation, and COVID-19, directly. "COVID-19 was trying to say 'don't let these guys have a graduation', but we said no way." One student was even greeted for a graduation celebration at Newark Liberty International Airport. The school has been active on Facebook during virtual learning, and in the last week, sharing other end of year celebrations organized by the school. A virtual celebration honored the school's faculty and others on June 4. On June 5, the eight graders and their parents, along with Hagler and others organized a car parade to honor the parents; Chanan Vogel, Ickey Stelzer and Ari Wartelsky, who developed the plan for the mobile graduation. Finally, a drive by celebration was hosted by the school to honor the kindergarten graduates.
