Description
Press release from St. Louis Science Center:
April 7, 2022
On this date in 1992, American science fiction writer Isaac Asimov passed away. He is most famous for his Foundation series which won the Hugo award for "Best All-Time Series" in 1966. Following the launch and orbit of the Soviet satellite Sputnik in 1957, there was a general fear of a science gap between the Soviet Union and the United States. Asimov tried to counteract this concern by halting his science fiction writings to focus on writing and editing popular science titles.
