LOS ANGELES, CA — A motorcyclist raced away from police along Los Angeles and Orange County freeways at speeds topping 100 mph Friday morning. However, police caught him when he stopped to get gas after crisscrossing half a dozen Southland freeways. The biker was arrested at about 10 a.m., after pulling off the freeway in the City of Orange to refuel at a gas station. The pursuit began in South Los Angeles and zipped along the San Diego (405), Century (105), Santa Monica (10), Golden State (5), and Orange (57) freeways, ABC7 reported. The driver put commuters across Los Angeles and Orange County in danger, prompting authorities to back off from the chase. In the end, there were no police units directly behind the rider. That may have been why the biker took the risk of stopping for gas. However, police were tracking the biker from the air. City News Service contributed to this report.
