JOLIET, IL — Joliet police have filed several felony charges against 18-year-old Fabian Cejudo in connection with a violent crime on Helen Avenue last month. Cejudo smashed his Jeep into another motorist's car in the older east-side neighborhood and Cejudo also tried to shoot the motorist, according to Will County prosecutors. The shooting happened March 12. On Thursday, Joliet police detectives filed a criminal complaint charging Cejudo with aggravated discharge of a gun, aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one count of criminal property damage. The complaint states that Cejudo, who lives in the Plainfield area of Joliet in the 1800 block of Ruth Fitzgerald Drive, used his Jeep to crash into the other person's car. Cejudo is also accused of pulling out of his gun and trying to shoot the motorist. The criminal complaint does not indicate the victim was struck by any of the bullets. Will County Judge Victoria Breslin issued the warrant for Cejudo's arrest on Thursday, setting his bail at $25,000. As of Friday night, Cejudo had not been taken into custody by Joliet's Police Department. No mugshot was available.
