The Race For Paramus Council Just Got Closer: Latest Vote Totals

PARAMUS, NJ — There's been a shake-up at the top of the leaderboard of the Paramus Borough Council race, Bergen County unofficial results show. With two seats available on the Paramus Borough Council, Democrats Mariaelena Bellinger and Dominick Minervini were leading the race when the first round of votes were announced Tuesday, but Republican Christopher DiPiazza overtook Minervini in the latest totals. Bellinger is still the front-runner, and is currently the only candidate to receive more than 7,000 votes. However, DiPiazza is only about 100 votes behind the leader. Minervini is 136 votes behind DiPiazza, according to these latest results. Here's the unofficial count so far: Christopher DiPiazza — 6,947Michael Rohdieck — 6,561Mariaelena Bellinger — 7,078Dominick Minervini — 6,811 Bergen County reports a total of 409,307 ballots cast, but, according to the unofficial results, only absentee and early precincts have been reported so far, with 72 of 73 in. The county has yet to make an estimate on overall voter turnout. County Clerk John S. Hogan didn't provide much of an update on Twitter Wednesday morning, stating that results would continue to be posted online. Phil Murphy because of the coronavirus, there have been many questions about how the process will work. Every the ballot sent through the mail had to be postmarked by Nov. 3. It must be received by your county's election boards by 8 p.m. on Nov. 10. "Every vote should be safe. Every vote should be secure. Every vote should be counted," Murphy said of the process.
