PARAMUS, NJ — A Paramus homeowner jumped into action after seeing an attempted sexual assault on East Ridgewood Avenue Wednesday, the Bergen County Prosectutor's Office said.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, a woman was pushed to the ground and groped when an area homeowner intervened.
The alleged perpetrator, Hector William Alameda, of Paterson, pointed a knife at the homeowner before he fled the area.
Alameda was found a few blocks away from where the attack occurred, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
When Paramus Police approached, Alameda allegedly pulled a knife again and pointed it at the officers.
Alameda was subdued and no one was injured in the process of the arrest.
He is charged with attempted sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, aggravated assault on a police officer and two weapons possession charges.
As of Thursday, Alameda was still in custody at Bergen County Jail, pending first appearance.
