CARTERSVILLE, GA — Tickets are still available for the Saturday afternoon tribute show to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton at the Grand Theater. The 3:30 p.m. show is being presented by the Booth Western Art Museum in conjunction with its exhibit of photographs by Rogers. A Saturday performance was added after the 7 p.m. show sold out, according to museum marketing director Sandy Scott. In addition to their own country and pop hits, Rogers and Parton together are best known for their 1983 duet "Islands in The Stream," which topped multiple Billboard charts. Karen Hester as Dolly Parton has been an opening act for Trace Adkins and Ricky Van Shelton. She matches Dolly's unique look with "outstanding costumes, wigs and makeup," according to the Booth museum's website. As the late Kenny Rogers, Dave Karl "has a natural voice so close to Kenny Rogers, it's effortless for him to impersonate," according to the museum website. Karl is also a member of "Legends In Concert" in Las Vegas. The show ties in with the exhibit "Through the Years: Kenny Rogers' Photographs of America," which continues at the Booth through July 10. According to a museum news release, Rogers took up photography as a creative outlet separate from his life as an entertainer. Hiring some of the greatest photographers in the world to teach him — including a former assistant of Ansel Adams — Rogers documented America's landscapes and people with his camera. To buy tickets for the 3:30 p.m. tribute show on Saturday — and for more information on the Rogers exhibit — visit the Booth Western Art Museum's website.
