Their probably not that stupid. They just can't stand to watch anything but Fox. If they even thought for a minute. That there might be something to what other people say. Their whole world would collapse.
You have to remember. That these are the same people who almost started a 2nd Civil War. Over the bikini or people who wore blue jeans (because only hoodlums wear those. ) Or women who wore pants under the age of 50. (They almost choked to death over Laura Petri.)
They refused to run Star Trek. On their stations. They thought God Made people a different color to keep them apart. Or that black people were the sons of Cane. (Something they still teach in some rural Babtist Churches.)
They thought rock and roll was from Satan and the end of the world. They burned radio stations.
The list goes on and on. They're not bad people. They are a frightened people driven to extremes. To fight the evil as they see it. And they don't have any way to see past it.
And because the things they would need to learn to be able get past it. Are so evil in their eyes. There isn't any way to teach them. Live by the sword. Die by the sword. If a cave man protected his family, fed them, and gave them confidence in him by carrying a club. You will never get him to put it down or be far from it. It just won't make sense to him.
