BETHEL, CT — Police have charged a 66-year-old Cherry Lane man with misconduct following their investigation into the Mother's Day crash that killed one driver. Police say Bradley Stock crossed over the center line while passing another northbound vehicle on Route 53 in the area of its intersection with Mansfield Street on May 10. The drivers of both vehicles had to be extricated by firefighters and transported to Danbury Hospital. Both drivers suffered "significant injuries," according to a report from Bethel Fire & EMS. On May 13, 2020, one of the drivers died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. "Stock's vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed," according to police, when it collided with the victim's car travelling in the southbound lane, striking it head-on. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Stock, who turned himself in at Bethel Police Headquarters. He was charged on Friday with misconduct with a motor vehicle, failure to keep right on a curve, and unsafe passing. Stock was eventually released from custody on a $20,000 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 20.
