GERMANTOWN, MD — Three Montgomery County Public Schools employees have tested positive for COVID-19, the school district announced this week. The infected individuals were working on-site at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Middle School in Germantown. MCPS said one of the employees was last on campus on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Information about the other two staff members were not immediately made available. School officials are asking other employees who worked with the affected staff members to get tested and to self-quarantine for 14 days. Anyone who may have visited the school before Oct. 15 should also self-monitor for symptoms. The news comes less than a week after MCPS announced that a meal distribution employee at Glen Haven Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. MCPS moved to online-only instruction in March due to COVID-19. Some employees, however, still go to school to teach from their classrooms and distribute meals to lower-income families.
