Less Than 1,000 Residents Without Power In Bethel

BETHEL, CT — First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker is reporting that power was restored to about 2,200 Bethel homes and businesses in the past 24 hours, with less than 1,000 to go. "Eversource has committed to having 99% of Bethel restored by this evening. We certainly wish them success," Knickerbocker said on Tuesday. A number of crews from out-of-state are working in town, Knickerbocker said. "Please do not interfere with any of the repair crews. Please do not stop to ask if they know when the power will be back on at a specific street or house number. They will not have that information and we do not want to slow their work," the first selectman said. On Wednesday, the town is planning to still have showers available at Bethel Middle School from 6-9 a.m. and charging stations at town hall in the General Purpose Room from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the event that Eversource does not meet its deadline on Tuesday night. The town is still accepting yard waste related to the storm free of charge at the transfer station. This is for residential drop off only, and residents must have a transfer station sticker or show their drivers license with a Bethel address.
