JOB OVERVIEW For this seasonal position, we are seeking an honest, reliable, hard-working individual to assist with picking orders, assembling products, packing orders for shipping, and warehouse work for our company. The individual we hire must have good communication skills, be a willing and quick learner, and be highly dependable. This position is seasonal with work expected to be steady and last through September. Hours will likely vary between 20 and 40 a week depending on the time of year due to the seasonality of the playground business, so flexibility in schedule is absolutely essential (more on that below). The Shipping & Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for helping our Shipping Lead with the following: - Picking and packaging playground parts and accessories for shipment - Assembling chain to a variety of swing related products - Checking order contents for accuracy - Packing boxes for shipment – neatly, quickly, and securely - Warehouse cleaning and organization - Helping with the off-loading and organization of incoming shipments KEY TRAITS WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN SUITABLE CANDIDATES Dependability - We need you to show up every workday on time and be ready to get to work. If you're habitually late or want to spend the day watching TikTok videos on your phone - this isn't the job for you! :) Focus and attention to detail - The ability to stay on task and razor-sharp attention to detail. We work with a lot of part numbers! Strong visual acuity - Being able to easily tell different swing styles apart, differentiate between different colors, sizes, chain lengths, and recognizing subtle differences in similar-looking products. Internal motivation - You always do your best. You set goals for yourself and make sure to hit them. You are always trying to improve. Ability to commit core procedures to memory - We'll provide copious amounts of training to start, but the right candidate for this position should be more or less autonomous and able to work without close supervision after a month on the job. Stamina - This job is very active and is done on one's feet. You should be able to lift at least 70 lbs and handle lighter loads on an ongoing basis. In addition to lifting, there will be quite a bit of bending over to assemble swings. In all, you must have good endurance to get through a full day of assembly and shipping. Background in shipping and warehouse work is a definite plus! WHEN CAN YOU START? We hire fast! We want this candidate to start the week of April 11th. The job will last through September 2022. WAGE $15/hour for the first four pay periods during training phase, with incremental raises throughout contract period based on good performance. $500 bonus for working through September with good performance. And, for this position we are offering a $500 bonus for staying with the job through September with good performance. Casual dress code - No suit and tie needed in the warehouse - jeans, shorts or sweats; and a shirt will do! We just ask that you leave open-toed shoes at home for safety. No masks! It's a huge warehouse. Seriously, you don't need to wear a mask. No v*x requirement either. We take a common sense treatment of colds / COVID exposure and maintain respect for each other's freedom and values. Listen to podcasts and music all day - these are solitary tasks that are perfect for working with headphones in once you get the hang of things. If you love alone time and the zen of repetitive tasks you'll love this job. DAYS / HOURS This job will fluctuate in hours per week depending on the volume of orders we are receiving at the time. Below is a likely breakdown of expected hours per week. March-May will be near full time, with months following expected to taper down. This will be a shift of 3-5 days per week, with a minimum of 20 hours per week guaranteed (even if there is no work available, you will receive the minimum hours). Mar - 30-40 hrs / week Apr - 30-40 hrs / week May - 30-40 hrs / week Jun - 30 hrs / week Jul - 20-30 hrs / week Aug - 20-30 hrs / week Sep - 20 hrs / week Initial days/hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:00 to 4:00 (or 4:30-5:00 with lunch). Expected to reach full-time hours by end of April. Flexibility in schedule is absolutely essential as hours depend on current shipping demand. As our business is seasonal in selling and shipping playground parts across the country, the spring and summer months are considered our peak season. It is expected that hours for this position will be near full-time through May or June, but is expected to taper off at the end of summer.
