GERMANTOWN, MD — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a Germantown resident, according to Montgomery County police.
Justin Andrew Wilson, of Germantown, was charged with the first-degree murder of 63-year-old Egidio Ienzi, authorities said.
The incident happened at Ienzi's Duhart Court home just before noon on Thursday.
Police said a female family member who was sleeping upstairs awoke to the sound of yelling and discovered Ienzi struggling with an unknown man who was armed with a knife. She was able to call 911 and provide a description of the suspect to responding officers.
When authorities arrived around 11:34 a.m., they found Ienzi suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
Last week, police released photos and a video of a man running down the street. After reviewing the footage, another family member identified Wilson as the suspect.
"The family member told investigators that Wilson had been in the home on Duhart Court as recently as three to four weeks prior, and that after that visit, the victim had noticed that numerous silver coins were missing from the home," police said in a statement. "The physical characteristics of Wilson matched the description of the suspect provided by the family member who witnessed the struggle in the home and the physical characteristics of the suspect captured on surveillance video."
Wilson was arrested in Virginia on Tuesday. He is currently being held in a facility in Stafford County, pending extradition to Montgomery County.
