Target Filling Former Kmart Location In Somers Point, City Says

SOMERS POINT, NJ — Target is coming to Somers Point. The store will take the location of the former Kmart in the Somers Point Plaza, according to the city construction office. A Target spokesperson confirmed they signed a lease in Somers Point, but Target and city officials offered no more details. Sears Holdings, the parent company of Sears and Kmart, closed four New Jersey stores late last year, including the Kmart in Somers Point. The store's closure left a void in the Somers Point Plaza, a strip mall which also includes PetSmart, Big Lots and ACME Markets. The plaza features more than 25 stores. The closest Target to Ocean City is currently in Mays Landing.
