EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but sometimes ticketing and towing works. Egg Harbor Township police will crack down on illegal parking on Ocean Drive near "Dog Beach."
The state-owned Malibu Beach Wildlife Management Area is a popular destination for pet owners and their four-legged friends. But the area has overflowed with parking this summer, as its two small lots tend to fill up on weekends.
Police have been ticketing drivers during the past month for illegal parking on Ocean Drive. Authorities announced that anyone who does so are subject to a fine of $200. Vehicles will also get towed at a minimum rate of $135 with storage fees of $20 each day.
County officials also passed a resolution modifying the existing no-parking zone on Ocean Drive. The Cape May County Board of Freeholders modified the area on Ocean Drive north of the Ocean City-Longport Bridge into a tow-away zone June 23.
