Description

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery County is stepping up to raise awareness about Leukemia and Lymphoma. Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS), along with the Montgomery County Government Employees Organization (UFCW Local 1994) and County Executive Marc Elrich, announced they are supporting Labor Against Cancer — a movement led by members of the United Food and Commercial Workers to end blood cancers. The retail store campaign will run in all 26 county ABS locations through Saturday, Nov. 14. Customers will be asked at checkout if they wish to donate $1, $3, or $5 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the Labor Against Cancer initiative. Blood cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in children and young adults under the age of 19. County officials say all funds raised in the campaign will go toward LLS research and patient support services.
